ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Dr.Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) was established in the year 1998 by Sri.M.MANICKAM with a view to commemorate the 75th birth year of his beloved father Arutchelvar Dr.N.MAHALINGAM with a mission to impart high quality competency based education in Engineering & Technology to the younger generation with the required skills and abilities to face the challenging needs of the industry around the globe. MCET is a self-financing, co-educational Engineering College and it is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi & affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. The Institute has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi and ISO 9001:2008 certified by TUV. The MCET currently offers 11 UG and 5 PG programs and Doctoral programme in Engineering, Technology and Science.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The department of Information Technology was established in 1999. The department offers B.Tech (IT) programme. The department is affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. B.Tech. Information Technology Programme is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), AICTE, New Delhi. The department is involved in conduct of several national level workshops, Seminars, FDP, SDP, Conferences, etc. Our Department faculty members have published about 25 International Journal Papers in Reputed Journals namely IEEE Trans. on Image Processing, IEE Communications, ACM, Springer, etc. Our faculty members are involved in research work in the fields of Signal Processing, Image Processing, Networking, Data Mining, Soft Computing, etc.
OBJECTIVE AND TOPICS OF THE WORKSHOP:
Data mining, the extraction of hidden predictive information from large databases is a powerful new technology with great potential to help companies and researchers to find patterns or models
hidden in the large databases. In machine learning, pattern recognition is the assignment of some sort
of output value to a given input value, according to some specific algorithm.Weka is a collection of machine learning algorithms for data mining tasks. The algorithms can either be applied directly to a dataset or called from Java code. This workshop will help the faculty and students to bridge this gap and enable them to better use Data Mining concepts for real life applications.
